Seckinger High School opened its doors in August of 2022, located at 3655 Sardis Church Road in Buford, GA. The school was established to provide relief to Mill Creek High School and Mountain View High School. Buford’s newest high school offers a collegiate learning environment. Students will be able to choose one of three areas of concentration. 

“This next-generation high school offers innovative learning opportunities and preparation for the fast-paced environments of the future,” said Memorie Reesman, the school’s principal. 

Theme Clusters

Creating what is referred to as a “theme cluster,” anchored by Buford’s newest high school, the Seckinger Cluster helps students prepare for life after high school. With a focus on advanced science and technology, business and leadership, and art and design, students can begin to carve out a plan and path for their future. For those who have already honed in on their life’s goals, there are more personalized journeys. 

High-school-aged students who live within the Seckinger Cluster will receive a letter confirming their ability to attend the innovative new school. And they made sure to make room for everyone who might wish to take advantage of this exceptional educational opportunity, as Seckinger has a building capacity of 2,800. The new structure includes expanded technology and engineering labs, three large lecture halls, collaboration rooms, as well as expanded art classrooms, and a graphic design lab. 

Seckinger High School students don’t miss out on any athletic or extracurricular opportunities. The school offers a band, orchestra, chorus, a MIDI lab (audio/video production), a theatre, a dance studio, gymnasiums, as well as athletic fields, and a stadium.

The mascot? Seckinger High School students will be wearing Jaguar blue, gray, and black!

“Meeting with the community, parents, and students of the new Seckinger Cluster as we worked to define and build our school community has been a highlight in my professional career,” says Principal Reesman. “We have laid the groundwork for a school culture that is focused on students and how to best provide them a next-generation learning experience in which they can excel in academics, athletics, and the arts. As the hub of the district’s first theme cluster, Seckinger’s focus on artificial intelligence is uncommon… just like the black jaguar that will represent our school.”  

Students who attend Seckinger will have opportunities to embody their mascot in the following sports: cheerleading, cross country, flag football, football, softball, volleyball, basketball, bass fishing, dance, e-sports, swimming and diving, wrestling, baseball, golf, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, track, and field. Apart from sports, students can participate in academic and artistic activities like literature clubs and theater. 

And to ensure that the next generation of thinkers and thought leaders is well-prepared to meet this technologically advanced workforce, there will be a rare and broad focus on AI (Artificial Intelligence) at Seckinger High School. In a nod to the dynamic and constantly changing work landscape, Seckinger planners hope to impart students with the technologically advanced experiences they will need to excel in their careers.
